Kingsman: The Secret Service. A movie review.

Kingsman: The Secret Service. Starring Samuel L Jackson, Colin Firth, Michael Caine, Taron Egerton UK Release Date February 2015

Kingsman: The Secret Service is Johnny English meets James Bond in this action packed somewhat comical movie.

A historic top secret organisation made up of Kick Ass Gentleman search for a new recruit through an intense and life threatening training programme. Comedy, Action and dogs – you couldn’t ask for more from a movie.

Colin Firth gives you a Liam Neeson ‘Taken’ Vibe as he leads this movie as the key mentor and secret agent. Normally playing the hopeless romantic gentleman in such films as Bridget Jones Diary and Love Actually, I was pleasantly surprised to see him giving us more of an edgy action packed approached while still keeping his English charm.

Taron Egerton was not on my radar before but seeing him go from street wise ‘chav’ to swauve assassin I can see that he will be ‘one to watch’ as an emerging British actor.

Sofia Boutella is a force to be reckoned with as the deadly and sexy PA ‘Gazelle’ to the humours and unusual take on a villain ‘Valentine’ played by Samuel L Jackson. Playing A geek millionaire with a lisp Samuel L Jackson is both hilarious and deadly.

The great cast also consisted of Jack Davenport, the battle axe but loveable cadet trainer Mark Strong and Michael Caine is always a welcome addition to the screen.

I feel you could have almost removed the humour aspect of the film and still had a great action movie.

Great fight scenes with more gore then I would have expected – a slight Shaun of the Dead aspect to it, great humour and some cute dogs thrown in for good measure. Proving that that Brits can make a great film, Kingsman is a must see.
