For episode 2 of season 3, we are joined by Raffaella Covino, an actress with a passion for mental health in the arts. She is the founder and director of the triple award-winning organisation Applause for thought.

Applause for thought provide free and lower-cost mental health support, talks, workshops, well-being schemes & consultancy and accredited mental health courses to all those in the arts and entertainment industry.

In this episode, we discuss the mental health challenges in the arts and how we have to value ourselves more.

Property for Performers

For season 3, episode 3 of The Business of Show Business podcast, we did something a little be different and invited three guests onto the show as a panel discussion.

In this episode, we tackle performers' property, getting on the ladder, building a property business, and the money mindset.

Adam Galbraith, Tommy Franzen and Shaun Smith are all highly successful performers whose careers have seen them perform with companies such as Matthew Bourne's Swanlake, Zoonation, Mamma Mia 2: Here we go again, Cats the movie and Strictly Come Dancing, to name a few.

They have all also built up successful property careers alongside performing. In this episode, they dive into how to get on the property ladder and turn one property into a business.

We are on episode 4, and I am flying solo today as I tackle rejection, imposter syndrome and how to stand out in a crowd.

This topic is something that almost all creatives and freelancers experience at some point, and I wanted to dive into this subject because 2020 and 2021 have not gone according to anyone's plans.

I break this episode down into three sections:

Building a career after injury with Rachel Windsor

For season 3, episode 3 of The Business of Show Business podcast, I am joined by Rachel Windsor.

Due to an accident, while performing, Rachel’s entertainment career was cut short, but now she has built a successful yoga personal brand and runs social media accounts for Yoga studios.

Rachel and I trained together many years ago at musical theatre college, and sadly, due to an accident, Rachel was forced to change her career path. She went from performing on stages across the UK nightly to now running a successful Yoga personal brand.

In this episode, we discuss life after performing and how valuable your skills can be to other careers. We talk about the mindset needed to overcome injury, how you have to think like a business as a personal brand.
